about

This piece is ultimately about the cycle of a beautiful yet failed marriage, using the meta imagery of the great annihilator, the avalanche. The micro imagery is the cycle of the glacier, starting with the spring sun creating melt lakes, which turn into waterfalls that cascade under the glacier and allow it to move slowly down the mountain. As the glacier moves toward the sea, it destroys everything in its path. The ice becomes more densely packed, and eventually it becomes a sheer cliff of blue and white, towering over the sea. The ice can no longer hold the pressure, and a deafening crack is heard as huge icebergs break off and collapse into the sea. These icebergs mix the freshwater with the saltwater of the ocean, whose currents affect the weather around the world.
